How do your citrus do in the SF Bay area? Do they ripen in late winter, or later?
I have a friend who had a small orange tree in Seattle, and it took two years for the fruit to ripen! Here is AZ, the bud begin in February and the oranges and lemons are ready in late winter.

The Orange take about 18 months to sweeten. It blooms in spring and I pick in the fall, of the next year.
The lime doesn't do well if we have a frost, unless I protect with a cover. This winter was no frost, so I have lots of lime that will be ripe in february.
The lemons are perpetual, but largest harvest in late winter.
